The Farm Machinery Preservation Society Vintage Vehicle Rally
Long Melford, Suffolk
A well attended event, lots of visitors and over a thousand exhibits, all in the grounds of Long Melford Hall.
The event has that rural county show atmosphere, with plenty to see, not just cars, but also side shows, trade stands, arena displays and allsorts of vehicles and country pursuits.
Some of the highlights for me were the display of heavy horses, sheepdog displays and a vintage fayre. Vehicle wise, the many tractors and Historic commercials were good to see.
Pic. 1. Peter Hudspith's recently restored Peerless GT with mechanics based on a Triumph TR3, one of
only 250 examples manufactured between 1957 and 58. It's lovely!
Pic. 2. Late 1940's Bristol Double decked bus in the Westcliff Bus Company colours. (Westcliff on Sea,
near Southend, Essex). Reminded me of my father's first job in 1929/30 as a conductor for the
company.
Pic. 3. The estate version of the Farina designed Morris Oxford Series V. Late 50's tail fins, BMC
B-Series mechanics and front bench seat. Good to see a survivor.
